The government encourages us to save for our retirement – so why is the government allowing early access to super?
Legislation was passed allowing superannuation release in special circumstances. A protocol is in place to protect our retirement funds; however, sometimes severe financial hardship necessitates the need for monies to be drawn from our superannuation.
It is true that “raiding the kitty” will impact on your superannuation savings and your retirement, but when you are in a distressed situation and need money now from your superannuation for addiction, mental health, funeral costs, IVF, palliative care, terminal illness, surgery or several financial hardships, the future implications are irrelevant to those in need.

Dealing with the DHS, (Department of Human Services), for many can be confusing and confronting. Robert Rushford, who heads up Release My Super, assists clients who are in circumstances where choices are limited. Sometimes diverting funds from superannuation is the only way forward for such families.
